Jambalaya, Gumbo, Etouffée, Shrimp Creole, and Dirty Rice….the very names of these dishes conjure up images of the fabulous food and fun that is South Louisiana. Problem is, how can you possibly recreate these iconic Louisiana dishes in your own kitchen? What better way than one of the easy to make and  delicious items from our Cravin’ Cajun® Rice Mix collection or one of our signature Base products?  After all, you’d expect that it would take a company with Louisiana in its’ name to capture the true culinary essence of Cajun cuisine.

  1. LA FISH FRY Cajun Gumbo Base (5 oz)

    Gumbo Made Easy. You don’t have to be a Cajun to make great gumbo anymore.  We do it all for you; just add your choice of meat or seafood and serve over rice 

    Unit Size: 5 oz. (142g)

    Cooking Directions For Chicken & Sausage Gumbo

    1. In 4 qt. pot, combine 2 qts. of cold water or chicken stock and LA fish Fry Gumbo Base. Stir well and bring to a boil.
    2. Add 2-3 lbs. of thoroughly cooked chicken and/or sausage (to 165°F).
    3. Cover and bring to a second boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 15 minutes. Serve over cooked rice. Enjoy!

    Cooking Directions for Seafood Gumbo

    1. In 4 qt. pot, combine 2 qts. of cold water or chicken stock and LA Fish Fry Gumbo Base. Stir well and bring to a boil.
    2. Add 2 lbs. of Seafood.
    3. Cover and bring to a second boil 3-4 minutes. Remove from heat (add oysters at this time, if desired). Ensure seafood is thoroughly cooked (145°F). Serve over cooked rice. Enjoy!

    Ingredients: Enriched Bleached Wheat Flour (Wheat Flour, Malted Barley Flour, Niacin, Reduced Iron, Thiamine Mononitrate, Riboflavin, Folic Acid), Corn Starch, Dried Onion, Salt, Hydrolyzed Corn Protein, Monosodium Glutamate, Spices, Caramel Color, Safflower Oil, Dried Garlic, Natural Flavor. CONTAINS: WHEAT

  2. LA FISH FRY Etouffee Base (2.65 oz)

    Effortless Etouffée. Just add your choice of crawfish, shrimp, or chicken to our delicious blend of onions, bell peppers, celery, and spices. Just add rice and ENJOY!

    Unit Size: 2.65 oz.

    Cooking Instructions:

    1. Melt 5 tbsp. butter or margarine in saucepan. Add LA Fish Fry Etouffée Base. Stir over low heat until medium brown.
    2. Add 2 cups of water and 1 lb. of peeled crawfish tails or peeled shrimp. Cover and bring to a boil. Stir often.
    3. After mixture comes to a boil, reduce heat to low and cook 15 minutes. Remove from heat and let stand 15 minutes. Ensure seafood is thoroughly cooked (to 145°F). Serve over rice. Enjoy!

  3. LA FISH FRY Shrimp Creole Base (2.61 oz)

    A New Orleans Original. Our rich sauce has just the right amount of onions, bell peppers, garlic, and herbs. Add shrimp and serve over rice for an iconic New Orleans dish.

    Cooking Directions:

    1. Melt 5 tbsp. butter or margarine in a saucepan. Add LA Fish Fry Shrimp Crole Base. Cooke over low heat for 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly.
    2. Add 2 cups water and an 8 oz. can of tomato sauce. Stir.
    3. Cook uncovered for 15 minutes on low heat, stirring often. Add 1 lb. of peeled shrimp to the base and cook on low heat for 15 more minutes or until the seafood is thoroughly cooked and opaque in color (to 145°F). Serve over cooked rice. Enjoy!

  4. Cajun Jambalaya Entrée Mix (7.5 oz)

    Cajun Jambalaya Made Easy. The seasonings & spice are already in the bag. Just add you choice of meat or seafood and “let the good times roll”!

    COOKING DIRECTIONS:

    1. Pre-cook 1 – 1 ½ lbs. of boneless chicken, pork, or sausage (or any combination of the three) or 1 – 1 ½ lbs. of seafood in a 4 quart saucepan.  Ensure meat is thoroughly cooked (to 165˚F) and seafood is thoroughly cooked (to 145˚F).
    2. Combine meat and/or seafood and LA Fish Fry Cajun Jambalaya Entrée Mix with 2 ¼ cups of water. Stir well.
    3. Heat mixture to a rolling boil, stirring occasionally.  Cover, reduce heat, and simmer for 20-25 minutes.  Stir once while cooking. Enjoy!

    SERVING SIZE INFORMATION:

    2. Bring 3¼ cups of water and 1 tbsp. of butter or margarine to a boil.  Add LA Fish Fry Red Beans and Rice Entrée Mix. Stir well.  Boil for 2-3 minutes.  Reduce heat to low.
    3. Cook covered for 25-30 minutes, stirring often.  Remove from heat and let stand 5 minutes before serving.  Enjoy!

    COOKING DIRECTIONS:

    1. In a 4 qt. saucepan, brown 1 lb. of ground meat.  Ensure meat is thoroughly cooked (to 165˚F).  Drain.
    2. Add 2 ¼ cups of water and LA Fish Fry Dirty Rice Entrée Mix.  Bring mixture to a boil.
    3. Reduce heat and cook covered for 20-25 minutes.  Stir before serving.  Enjoy!
